Visual Training

Take a look at this video and see how many pitches you can recognize.  How much time do u have  to see the pitch location, the pitch selection and try and hit it?  Average MLB pitcher 2 tenth's of a second.  That's right.  So my question is what are you doing for your visual side of the game to slow it down?  Get my visual trainer on ricksaggese.com and slow the game down!

Importance of Flexibility

I recently was able to have lunch with one of the best stretching coaches in the country in Aaron Mattes.  As we had a very good conversation about the importance of flexibility in sports he told me one thing that stuck with me and that was the average player can increase their performance greatly if they can enhance their flexibility.  It's important to make stretching a daily routine not just when you exercise.  Baseball and Softball is an explosive sport and to be explosive you need flexible muscles.  Don't drop the ball and remember stretch at least once a day using AIS (Active Isolated Stretching).

Baseball Pitching

I always ask my clients this question "what is the best pitch in baseball?"  I never get the answer I am looking for which is a "strike".  See younger pitchers especially but all pitchers have to first learn to throw strikes before they can learn to throw secondary pitches.  I feel and have seen kids learn this theory backwards and these same players seem to continually struggle throwing pitches in the strike zone.  If you think about it if you have the best stuff around but can't consistently throw them for strikes how much good will it do?  Not much.  Remember a strike is the best pitch in baseball!
